After the Government of Mumbai passed the Public Trust Act in 1950, the above organization was closed and a new organization "Shri Suryanarayana Seva Sangh" was established. Shri Gajanan Pandurang Lokhande, Mahim Chief Trustee (Chairman) was appointed and Shri Purushottam Vaman Sahamate, Shri Bhau Raghunath Bhanu, Shri Jairam Lokhande, Shri Krishnaji Laxman Lokhande, Shri Chiman Pitambar Amre and Shri Keshav Bhaskar Vartak were the first executive officers to manage the affairs of the new Sangh. The flag of Shri Surya Narayan Seva Sangh was carried higher by subsequent members of the committed Seva Sangh.
To commemorate the establishment of Shri Suryanarayana Temple, the Amrit Mahotsav was celebrated with great enthusiasm in 1981. Thereafter in February 2006, the Centennial Festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm with many devotes flocking for the divine darshan of the Lord. On the occasion of the Centennial Festival, the temple was visually transformed with brilliant interiors and colorful lighting that devotes said was a beautiful treat for the eyes. The Seva Sangh devotees and other charitable donors generously assisted in the form of donations in cash & kind.
Under the blessings of the Sadguru Padmanabha Swami, the Suryanaran Seva Sangh has worked for the upliftment of the society from early days. The sangh undertook difficult tasks such as;
Shri Suryanarayana Seva Sangha continues to celebrate their noble mission into the upliftment of the individual unto the service of the society. Apart from its office bearers there are countless noble folks who’ve given freely of themselves their time & financial support into the Seva karya and words are just not enough to express gratitude for these selfless people.
